Parents pulled with no notice HAPPY MONDAY

Don't even know if I can type legitimately because parents have kind of (insert word here) me this morning. SO excuse me as I probably can't write in complete sentences right now.

Called trying to figure out if they paid for child's last week of care when they signed on. NO THEY DID NOT. I read them their receipts aloud.

Reason being, they paid for this week already, thank God. Stated child has cried past 2 times he came here and he doesn't want to come any more. Child is 1. come on. All these dumb excuses, which I'm fine with but tried to say could he have picked up biting and pinching here. ABSOLUTELY NOT.

I let them know, fine, he does not have to come back. They still owe 1 week. They were a little rude so I don't care anymore. They kept saying all I care about is money blah blah. I mean, I am a business. I only use this to pay my bills.

Anyway, dcm is coming later today to pick up things. I will have a copy of their contract highlighted, as well, as their initial receipt showing what they paid. I am also writing a letter stating they owe their last week of care on or before Friday since per our phono convo they immediately terminated without notice.

I am also having mom sign incident log stating that they immediately pulled him for reasons stated on phone call as: he outgrew space, needs to be around older kids, and a bigger backyard. That way, if they get funny like my last parents, I have proof in case the state comes again.

Anything else I need to add? Say? Do?

Yes, to having mom sign the paperwork you mentioned above. If DCM says anything about money, agree....this IS your job/income so of course its about money to you.

DON'T apologize for that. Too many parents already do not recognize and/or respect the fact that yes this IS our income ad how we pay the bills so of course it's about money.

If they want to be unhappy and complain, I just smile and let them. Because most parents like that WILL go on to being told no elsewhere or have a similar experience in the next program they attend because you can't really hide from bad behavior when its you (the parent) or your child...kwim?

So just smile when DCM shows up.
You know a little secret she has yet to learn.
But she will.

But thank you for your kind words. I am NOT letting it ruin our week. I'm just laughing, because I know they will never find a provider like my husband and myself. Dcb will be a piece of work. This is same dcd that will be "going away." So good luck to them. I will nicely give all his property back, (clothes, shoes) as well as what I stated above: highlighted copy of contracts and receipts. Then explain you have until Friday. This is my job, how we pay bills. I'm sure you understand. BIG SMILE. Have a great day!

This I always do this if I think a term will go bad. Of course many of my terms have just never bothered to come get the stuff, even when they have made an appt. to do so.

She came already so I wasn't able to jave her do that, but she did sign off on what her reasonings were for pulling so that's good. She wasn't rude then. I just let her know when payment is due.

Oh gosh. Well it was immediate termination not ny usual 2 weeks notice. But gosh, left the country, yeah you topped me . Im sorry to hear that.

I am sure everyone here will have great advice on how to handle this parent, so I won't go there. But what I would (strongly) encourage you to do would be to get your 2 week notice in the form of an enrollment deposit. Put that in your contract and don't even accept another client without receiving or making arrangements to receive that deposit. That way you always get that notice ahead of time.

This is the child whose father is going to jail and they needed longer hours than you were able to offer, correct? It seems like they pulled because they're upset you weren't willing to roll out the red carpet and accommodate Mom's needs.

Thank you so much. However, when I updated my contract in May, I already added that in. Therefore, going forward, any newly enrolled family will be expected to pay 1st week of care along with last 2 weeks of care. Thanks again.

End of May dcm signed and both parents said they could make it work and would be okay with it bc they didn't want to pull dcb out of a place he is comfortable with. Then a week later, changed their mind. This is also the family who dcd told my DH he would pull dcb for their 1 week vacation and reenroll afterwards. Haha, that would never happen. Anyway, it is what it is. There is no animosity or strong feelings. They come, they go. New opportunity at the door.

I mean this kid was in a center but he got bit a lot so they pulled him. Then he was in a place near mom's job but they pulled him there because we were closer to home. I assume it was easier to bring him here when they were off work as opposed to driving to dcm job town.

I just wish them the best and hope dcb is taken care of. Nothing left to do except wait for payment

just read your update, so was all of this the dad that pulled him out or was it the mom's decision too??

Hope they find a place where a 1 year old won't occassionally cry at drop off.
