    Good grief

My allergies have been a hot mess this year. And I knew yesterday it was going to happen, but I have no voice today. I guess it is going to be a laid back day at daycare. Maybe go to the park this morning and a movie this afternoon. But that doesn't solve the issue of having an interview this evening. Sigh. I can't take off every time my allergies get bad, because I would never work, would never have been at school, etc. Hubby has a friend who gets an "allergy shot" once a year. It helps him a lot, so we asked what it was, it is a steroid, so with my diabetes, they will never give it to me. They only give me those when there is no other option. I guess I am just whining . Any body got any cheese to go with my whine? And to top that all off, I picked up the van from the shop yesterday. Fixing the AC cost me $496 that I really didn't have. But the back windows don't open at all, one does a tad more of a vent. And the front passenger window motor is dead. The AC had to be fixed. Now I gotta rob Peter to pay Paul. I will work it out, I always manage to it seems, but I don't like it.

I hear ya sister!! Went to mow the lawn this past weekend, and discovered that the middle blade is broken (each strip of grass I mowed had a Mohawk down it !) As Dh was fixing that, I figured I would weed eat. Turns out the weed eater needed a new gas line. Dh got the blade of the mower all set, than started fixing the weed eater while I got hopped on the mower again. The mower fired up and as I turned the on the blades it kept dying. It needs a new part that we had to order. So back to weed eating I went. I just wanted to do my dang lawn! And I still didn't get my garden completely planted like I wanted to.
On the allergies subject, I was always the sick kid growing up between asthma, eczema and allergies. I had to leave school once a week to get my allergy shots. For 4 years! My teachers called me pin cushion. Now as a 30 something year old, I have no allergy issues, rarely have trouble breathing and only have eczema flare ups in the summer (just in the creases of my elbows). I will take it!

Yes I had skin issues for several years and in Jan was diagnosed with eczema. It is nice to finally know what it is, but that doesn't help it. I haven't had a flare up yet this summer, but the heat does make it worse.

Yes it's annoying. My eczema is hereditary. My dad had it over 75% of his body when he was a kid. I didn't have it that bad, but I managed to pass it on to my youngest child. :dislike: She only has it in the creases of her elbows, and the creases of her knees, so it's not nearly as bad. Still uncomfortable all Summer though! We have a prescription for a cream that consists of hydrocortisone, acid mantle and vitamin E. It's worth more than gold in our household!

I get it on my chest, I can't even wear a bra anymore. Every time I do, it flares up there! I have a prescription cream that has steroid in it. They only want me to use it when things are really bad due to the steroid. But without it I was getting to where huge patches of skin were bleeding, and then I had to actually take the steroid packs of pills. They like that even less, because of my diabetes so they choose this cream as the lessor of two evils.

Man! Hopefully it relieves some of the itchiness and doesn't cause any trouble with your diabetes!:hug:
I'll be thinking of you as we suffer through this summer! ::

Luckily right now, I am doing pretty well with it, no issues! A lot of that thanks to you all here who gave me tips how to deal with it. I use a ton of lotion now.
