Illness Question - My Own Child

So my child was diagnosed on Sunday with strep and I opened daycare on Tuesday as scheduled as he had been on antibiotics for a couple days. Now, today my husband took him back in and he has hand, foot and mouth disease. In the meantime, I have 3 daycare children out sick today, one of whom has strep. They all knew about my son's strep throat. I'm thinking about closing for 24 hours with all the sickness. Doctor say he's not contagious at this point as the blisters aren't popped, but I could see where they might make the daycare parents uncomfortable. Heck, if he weren't my kid, I'd send him home. What would you do and how should I word it?

My boys just had HFM. I closed for 3 days (plus the weekend), and only one other kiddo got it. I think giving everyone some space and being able to really scrub the daycare space and toys kept it under control.

All the parents were pretty understanding, and agreed closing was the best thing to do to keep it from spreading!

It is totally up to you but closing for 24 hours is not likely going to help much. Your son was contagious with FM long before his symptoms presented. He was also contagious with strep before he went on antibiotics as well. That is why it is so so hard to contain these illnesses once they present as symptoms.

I would say that you are closing to clean and disinfect. That will likely help the parents feel better and that you are professional and on top of things and might help for future illness.
