    Father's Day Crafts

I've been searching and searching for a craft/gift that everyone could do and is appropriate. Some of my dads don't fish, don't hunt, don't golf, don't fix anything. Help??!!

What is everybody here doing, if anything?

We made shrinky dink necklaces for Mother's Day so we are going to make shrinky dink key chains for Father's Day.

I've never been able to get shrinky dinks to work correctly!

I am at a loss, too. 2 of my dck's have dad/step dad (no step moms). I am NOT making two sets of each item. I told the kids that they can chose who gets what and I will make sure we make two things.

I'm thinking colored coffee cups? some Dads don't drink coffee though. idk!

Can anyone tell me what cups I need to get and what markers in order for them to decorate the coffee cups that you bake the color on? I know it is done with plates also, but I was thinking cups for dads.

It took a few tries to get right, but once I found a method they were super easy.

I found that circles work better than any shape, and they can't be too large. They curl when being baked, but will uncurl as they finish baking. If the shape is too large it will curl onto itself and get stuck.

Immediately after taking out of the oven, I place a sheet of wax paper and another cookie sheet on top of the shrinky dinks. It helps to flatten while maintain their shape.

I have seen plain ceramic mugs from the Dollar Tree, and name brand Sharpies used. I do know you have to bake them in the oven to "cure" them as well, but I do not know for sure how long or what temp.

I've always bought a canister like from Michaels crafts - and the kids and I bake cookies and fill them up! Easy!

We tried sharpies one year. Most of the colors turned an ugly brown after baking. Someone said you had to use china markers.

I am making it simple on me this year. ::

2 Movie and popcorn passes from fandango and a handprint "save the date" card. Dad chooses his date, hopefully from Mom or kid.

                      Boom.
                      - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.

I'm at a loss this year, even pinterest isn't helping me much. All my kids are 3 and under so its usually handprint stuff, I guess I am just bored of it all.

We are getting small oval white glass plate/tray from dollar tree and letting kids use sharpies on them and writing "dad's pocket stuff" in the middle.... saw it on pinterest.

Got this from Google...... Bake it. Bake the mug in the oven for 30 minutes at 350°F. Remember to place the mug in the oven before it heats up and leave it in until the oven cools completely so there won't be any cracks. You can choose to bake the mugs twice to really set in the Sharpie drawings.

Mine have always come off so I stopped doing them. :: Perhaps I am the master of failing at crafts. I don't really know.
