Staff/Child Ratio - Confused, Please Help

Hi, I am a parent of a child in a daycare (its a center, not home based) in New Jersey. The staff/child ratio for NJ is as follows. What would be allowed if a classroom is full of 3.5 and 4.5 year olds?

    2 ½ years up to 4 years 1:10
    4 years 1:12
    5 years and older 1:15

    Thank you

I would think if there are 3 year olds it would be 1:10. But the way to get an exact answer is to call and ask licensing. Also, they may have special permission to do more that happens in some places.

Generally speaking, you apply the ratio for the youngest age group. In this case, 1:10. But I would call licensing in your state to verify.
