    Question

I've had a parent request my help at Disney coming up, and they have requested that I change my gloves between the dirty diaper and applying cream/putting new diaper on.

For those of you that use gloves, do you use the same pair, change pair or do something else? What is everyone's procedure?

According to licensing here, we are supposed to clean the child, throw away the dirty diaper and remove the gloves (which they suggest but don't require us to use) before putting on a new diaper.

It isn't a big deal to me either way, but you're not going to infect the child with anything after changing their own diaper. It makes sense to change gloves between kids, but according to my Pediatrician, they could EAT their own poop and not get sick. Autoinfection isn't a concern, according to him.

I wear the same gloves for the whole change, then fold the soiled diaper into the gloves.

I use the same gloves usually but in a case of a diaper rash or yeast rash I change gloves and use fresh ones to put on a new diaper and cream.

We are required to take off our gloves after we remove the dirty diaper and then use bare hands when putting the clean diaper on.
If we need to apply a cream, then we use a tissue or a clean glove.

This is how I do it. I usually just pull the gloves off over the diaper "bagging" it up as I go.

If I know I'm putting on a cream, I double glove one hand before I start so I'm not wrestling on a new glove while changing a child.

What exactly are they having issue with?
Is glove wearing/changing something that has been discussed with them? How are they aware of your diaper changing routine and how often you change gloves?

Yes, I told them that I follow guidelines and use them. They asked if I would mind changing them like their daycare does.

Like others here, I haven't ever change, just used the same pair so I was wondering.

I am also trying to figure out if I should charge more since Ill be going through twice as many for the week.

This is a short term situation right? Maybe have them provide the gloves for you, if they wish you to use them. I guess I am a little confused about the whole thing. Are you just babysitting or coming with them to help watch the kids? In that case, you are more like a nanny, so I would make them supply whatever is needed and set your rate to a higher hourly rate that works for you. Hope that helps!

I just babysit, they found me on care.com and interviewed me. Im just going to build it into my hourly rate i guess, can't be that much more expensive.

                      Thanks everyone
