Bubble Wrap a Toddler

Has anyone ever wanted to bubble wrap a toddler? My little guy, 15 mos, falls every single day and hits his head on something. EVERY SINGLE DAY. The left side of his forehead has had a bruise on it since the day he started.

If he doesn't fall, he accidently hits himself on the forehead with a toy.

I feel so bad for him. I'm not sure if the parents understand that toddlers get a lot of bruises or not. We have a language issue, but they seem to understand.

He tries to run to keep up with the older kids and he just doesn't have the ability to.

Yes! DCB just moved up into our room 3 weeks ago, and we had to send home an accident report for a bump to the head the first two weeks! The first week he fell outside and bumped his head on the bottom pole of our chain link fence. Never in my many years of daycare have I ever seen any child do that.

Luckily DCM is very understanding as he bumps his head at home too- once needing stitches!

I was just saying this last week! I have one that is about the same age and he's constantly falling and hitting his head. Last week, he did a face plant on the hardwood floor and ended up with a bit goose egg on his forehead. A couple of weeks ago, he did the same thing only he hit on the opposite side of his forehead. It's typical for the age but it seems some tend to fall more than others.

Oh my gosh yes!!!! I have one DCB I swear his motto is "Eyes closed and full speed ahead!" Now that his sister is mobile she's going to put him to shame. He just ran- she climbs everything.

But I have his twin! He's almost 2 and I am constantly saying "you need to LOOK where you are going!" He has no idea what I mean but it makes me feel better ::

Yep, I have a "Weebles Wobble" & he does fall down ... He comes here with bruises done over the weekend & goes home with more; in my case little man is only 11 months, but was walking at 9 months

It's because their brain is 80% of adult size by age 2.
According to class I attended.

I have one that is constantly covered in bumps and bruises. He's been like that since he was crawling and I felt horrible every time I had to send home an incident report. I seriously considered buying him a baby helmet. Now that he's older, I don't even worry about his bumps and bruises. Frequently his parents and I have no idea what he did to himself, because he very rarely cries when he gets hurt.

What kind of shoes is he wearing? I have found that the toddlers who go barefoot or wear Robeez or the like rarely fall, while those in stiff shoes fall all the time. If that's a possibility, I'd suggest having him go barefoot, and suggest it to parents, too.

Always barefoot. His little body just can't keep up with how fast he wants to run.

Oh yes! I had one once who would plow through anything and everything - at home and at my house. Her mom and I would joke that we'd back each other up if Social Services ever came around. She had Nursemaids Elbow too, so she was at the Dr a lot.
