    St Patricks Day Crafts

I have 4 kids today. One 4 year old, two 2 year olds and a baby. Does anyone have any super easy crafts to do for St. Patricks Day? It's especially hard for the 2 year olds. They can't do anything fancy. Has anyone ever colored scrambled eggs? Do they eat them if you have?

I've slacked on the crafts lately because so many times when I walk out to the cars when they're picking up I see them on the floor or still in their bag. I think, why bother.

Put some blue and yellow dabs on paper and have them mix them to make green.

I also have shamrock shapes that we are painting green and pressing to make prints on paper.

I am dying scrambled eggs for lunch, too.

I made green playdough and added gold glitter. I've got some loose parts to stick into it.

I got some gold coins from the dollar store and we are having a scavenger hunt after rest.

All of my dck's are little too. I thought about the colored scrambled eggs, but then remembered they don't eat scrambled eggs. What kids don't like scrambled eggs?
I am going to read a book about the real St. Patrick and then have them color a few themed sheets. Books and coloring pencils are always a hit around here.
I refuse to stress over cutesy finished projects when most of our day is taken up with the life skills of potty training, taking turns, and not hitting. Can you tell the time change has really gotten to the kiddos and me?

We're doing fingerprint rainbows. Make a black pot of gold and have them dot their finger in red and dot and so on with the colors. All you need is paint and paper. I'm going to bake cupcakes and have them help me frost them and put sprinkles. That's it for today. Next though I'm having an easter party with the works, so I kind of forgot about this one

I'm trying to find a good site for themed coloring pages, can you share? And what, no scrambled eggs?!? Geez

If your 2s use scissors, give them strips of green paper to cut pieces from. We use them for creative play as leprechaun tracks, the kids toss them around or ask everyone to close their eyes as they sprinkle trails of green. My 1s don't cut but they love chasing the paper bits.

You can color scrambled eggs by pureeing milk and a green veggie (like broccoli, kale, spinach) together and adding it to the eggs. This is how I dye mine. And the eggs mask the veggie flavor.

              For crafts we have made:
              *A rainbow leprachaun hat: http://www.couponsaregreat.net/craft...bows-and-hats/

*Marble painted a clover. I cut a clover out of white paper, put it in a tin pan with high sides added a couple drops of paint and some marbles. The kids shook the pans to make the marbles move which painted the clovers. The kids loved this because they could do it standing up and the marbles make some pretty great sounds when they hit the tin.

*Make rainbow clover necklaces. We threaded small green clovers cut from green paper and fruit loops onto yarn and the kids wore them the rest of the day.

              Hope that helps a bit!

We didn't do anything and I felt guilty for all of 15 seconds. I think after the whole bombardment of Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas-Valentine's Day-Easter, St. Patrick's Day is one of those eh holidays for me.

I told mine that the leprechaun was playing silly tricks on us.... turned my back to the pan and oh my goodness! They all ate, except for my dd. Even though she stood and watched me make them. She was convinced that I had snuck a green veggie in. They did look gross, though, and I didn't think anyone would eat them. ::

I hear ya on the art activities left in bags, etc. the best way to deal with this Is to remember it's the process not the product and what they gain from engaging in the creative art process is what is truly important.

It's hard for me too when the kids' beautiful work is ignored. I'm able to display their art here as I have separate DC space. I know I wouldn't do that if we were I was offering care in my main living space! I leave each activity displayed about a week.

I love the idea with a dollop of yellow and green on a shamrock! I love St. Paddy's day as it seems to usher in spring here in the northland!
