    After Nap Potty Troubles

Dcb3.5 is new to the potty (2weeks in) he goes all day long, but when he wakes up from nap he cries a huge fit about going to the bathroom. Obviously, I'm not gonna just let it go and allow him to pee on the floor. I was putting him in a pull up for nap the first couple of days, but he just pees in it. He doesn't wet the bed without the pull up. I don't wanna scar this kid. Here's what I've been doing. "DCB have a seat until you calm down and you can try to go." Ends up kinda being a time out until he will try. I'm honestly losing patience. What would you do? Everyone else is listening to kid songs and having a snack, and this kid isn't allowed to join us until he calms down. He did pee, but continues to fuss.

Try to let him go in his own time after waking up. I have cared for many children who do not have to go right away after waking, and many would eat snack and have a drink before having to go. I always think that they potty right before laying down, and often times are like training puppies, where they need food and drink stimulation to have to go again.

Can he tell you he has to go? My own daughter is very fussy after nap. She is very close to dropping it and when she does fall asleep she is in a mood when she wakes. I would just let him eat first and make sure he tells me if he needs to go.

He unfortunately doesn't ever say he needs to go. During the day I just have him go every hour to hour in a half and he stays dry. I will try taking him to the potty after snack tomorrow. That is a good suggestion.

I don't potty train children who aren't ready. IMO he isn't. I won't fight them on using it. I would stop training and when he is ready then start again.
