My Parents Are Not Much Help Today!

Spring break is in March. We have Wed, Thurs, Fri and Mon off. I got together some ideas of things we could do special to keep the boredom away. I have two families with two kids each, and the parents liked ALL the ideas. Two of the are weather permitting, so in Ohio March is hit or miss. Hard to say this far out. But those can also be done this summer. I am going to tell you what my options to the parents were, and I would love your opinions! The overnight trip, I will be doing extra work for no pay. But both of my families right now are pretty awesome, pay on time, don't give me any real issues etc. It is sort of a gift to them. The Zoo membership, I am paying half of. Only because if kids change or I get new ones it isn't fair to current families to pay another child's portion.

    SPRING BREAK ACTIVITIES

    Spring break days are 3/23, 3/24, 3/25 and 3/28

I have been working on some activities for the kids for spring break. Some of these activities would have an extra cost involved. Please let me know which activities you would consider allowing your child(ren) to do and would be affordable to you. If you would be interested in more than one activity, mark all you like. The ones with the most votes will most likely be chosen. I realize that cost may be an issue, if it is a problem for you let me know. My intent is NOT to break the bank! I am only trying to offer options for the parents and children.

    OPTION 1
An overnight trip!!!! This would be an overnight trip to a nearby by Drury Hotel. This is the hotel our family uses whenever we travel if we can. The provide dinner in the cost (nachos, hot dogs, baked potatoes, meatballs, salad, soft drinks, as well as other offerings). They provide a hot breakfast (eggs, waffles, sausage, fried potatoes, cereal, etc). We would mostly be swimming in the pool. They also have popcorn and soda in the evenings and I would take snacks along with us. Mostly we would spend a lot of time in the pool. Erica is a lifeguard and would go with us on this trip. Right now, for a two room suite, with two queen beds in the bedroom and a pull out double sofa bed, the price is looking to be $31.25 per child. The children would come to daycare as normal on Thursday 3/24 that afternoon we would load up and go (checking in as early as possible for more pool time!) and we would return to daycare after check out on Friday 3/25 for pickup as normal. This overnight could be used as a date night or a night off for parents. I am NOT charging extra for overnight care, the overnight care is free!

    OPTION 2
Wright-Patt air force museum in Dayton, Ohio. This would be a day trip on one of the spring break days. We would take a lunch with us on this trip. We would go and enjoy the museum and the activities. We would watch a movie in the flight simulator, I am thinking the kids would like the one about roller coasters, as the simulator comes to life! We would leave after all children are dropped off, and try to be back by 4 PM. The cost of this trip would be $12 per child. This COULD be combined with option 1 as we could stop there on the way home Friday. If you would like this as a combined option, please notate that on the return portion of the form! If we combine these two options the fees will also be added together.

    OPTION 3
Fayette County YMCA, Washington CH, Ohio. This trip would take us to the YMCA for an hour or so of swimming. Perhaps a little playing in the game room. I am not sure yet if we would get any open gym time or not. This would be a half day trip. The cost of this trip would be around $9 per child. We would either eat lunch before or after going, or take lunch with us.

    OPTION 4 WEATHER PERMITTING ONLY
Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. This trip is also one of the more costly options BUT we would have a membership to go several times over the summer. Once we pay for the membership, we get free admittance for the year. The yearly fee for this would be $15.00 per child (the provider will be paying a chunk of this membership). When we go we would take our own food and drinks in order to save on expenses. If weather didn’t permit, we could go on another day that there is no school. This would include basic zoo admission only, no rides. Each child should bring at least $2 on the day of the trip to ride the train and carousel. They MAY bring more spending money if desired but it wouldn’t be required.

    OPTION 5 WEATHER PERMITTING ONLY
Cowan Lake State Park. We would go to Cowan Lake and just enjoy the area. We would hike, play on the equipment, and perhaps have a nature scavenger hunt, whatever we can think of! We would take lunch with us or possibly roast hotdogs for lunch. This would be a FREE trip. Since this trip is outside, I can’t promise we can go it is all up to the weather!

Those all should like so much fun! Thanks for reminding me that I need to plan some spring real activities. I will have an 8 MO old and a 2 yr old and will have to add my after school care kids to the mix. Two 6 yr Olds and two 9 yr olds. That makes the planning harder!
