    Amount of Milk Needed

The other breastmilk thread got me thinking. Do your infants typically drink the same amount of milk each day? I'm working hard to get my little guy on a schedule and he's doing much better, but still drinks differing amounts depending on the day. Some days he will only take 11 oz throughout the day, while others he will take as much as 18oz. He is here for about 10 hours with mom's drive time to and from work. Is it normal for this to differ so much when they're young? He is 5 mo.
On an exciting note: I finally got him going to sleep on his own this week and I can rock him for just a minute, sing a soft lullaby, and lay him down awake and he will fall asleep now!!! He's the one who was taking up to a couple hours somedays to get to sleep and only sleeping for 15-30 minutes so this is huge! I'm so proud of him.

    my 6 month old's schedule:
    9am 4oz
    nap 10-11
    12:15 4oz
    nap 1-3
    3:15 4oz

This is the same schedule my now 15m was on as a baby too.

Baby has been eating less lately due to stuffy nose, but 12oz of breast milk is normally what she eats.

I prefer my child get at least two cups per day

I have noticed that some babies eat the same amount each time and others will vary. I think it depends on the baby.
