    Daycare Enrollment For Foster Children

Hi everyone! My husband and I are in the final stages of foster care approval for ages 0-4 in Virginia. I know that 0-1 will be a tough day care placement due to waiting lists. I was hoping for some advice on registering a foster child for day care services in VA prior to having all of their medical information available. I know that the DSS provides a "promise to pay" to the day care provider, but what are the leniencies on foster parents for getting the child in care w/in days before having copies of the immunization record and birth certificate? Anyone w/experience or knowledge on this process would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks! =)

I was a foster mom and currently own/operate a home daycare. I still could not let you in without fees paid upfront and an up to date immunization form. Sorry, our rules and regs are the same regardless. A birth certificate would not be necessary, a copy of the guardianship papers would be beneficial.

The general view is that "it is a choice you made and should be prepared for" and I am sure they discussed that with you in class? I know it sounds harsh, it did to me when I had problems finding appropriate care. I ended up leaving my job.

Some states do have an up to 30 day period where immunization forms are not required, not sure about yours, though. It may be easier to get around it with a Doctors/Case Workers note.
    - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.
