Some people are just not cut out for daycare

And I am one of them. I just want to thank everyone here for being so awesome and supportive. This is a great place to vent and share. Keep up the great work! Farewell friends!

    Aw, checking out already?

Have you been doing child care long?
Anything in particular that caused you to quit?

I agree....it's not for everyone and if that IS the case for you, I'm super happy you recognized that and decided to make a change for YOU. Sometimes we lose ourselves in the chaos of life and I think those that fair best are those that recognize what does and doesnt work for them and act accordingly.

Good luck and I hope your new path is a happy one!!

Thanks. I have been working at a center for a little while, not long. I just can not handle what is expected of me. Its sad because I really enjoyed working with the kids and my coworkers were great. Just not meant for me. I am ready to move on with no regrets.

I'm new to in home daycare. Some days I think I must be crazy, others I truly enjoy my time. The thing that I have a hard time dealing with is that at times I feel that all I do is clock hours for the daycare, cleaning, paperwork, keeping track of my expenses and attendance, doing interviews, etc. I reach burnout on a weekly basis. Once Friday hits, after cleaning, I forget about daycare until Sunday night. I'm struggling to find that balance right now, but I guess it's part of running a business.

At least you're recognizing this early and it's probably good you're in a center environment.

I know how you feel working at a center. I worked there for 3 months and reached burnout very quickly. That is why I opened my own home daycare instead. Much better.

This post really got me thinking. The last few days I have been researching as well as praying. I have come to the conclusion that I was definetly burned out. Thinking of 9 1/2 and sometimes 10 1/2 hour days with only bathroom breaks. Nap time was spent cleaning so no break then either. It just became too much. Working with multiple special needs children as well as those that want constant undivided attention. I wish it would've worked out differently. But moving on is going to be welcome. I wish all of you he best and hope burn out doesn't happen to anyone here.

I also found working with multiple children with special needs to be very taxing. They get a program assistant for 4 hours a day and half the time they aren't even doing their job properly.

Anyway it's good that you realized this and are ready to move on! All the best
