    Reversed Schedule Help

I have a new dcg, 14 mos, that started on Monday.

To make a long story short, she has her naps in the morning. Our nap period is in the afternoon.

Has anyone been successful at reversing the child's naps? She has a 4 week transition period and I am not spending longer than 2 weeks 'working' on this. I need to see improvement by the end of next week.

We currently nap 9-10 in the morning and 12/12:30 in the afternoon for 2 hours. She doesn't have a set schedule, but will sleep for 2-3 hours in the morning and hit or miss for an afternoon nap.

I would just keep her up. Keep her on the group schedule.

This is how I do it. You could always give her a quick 30 minute nap in the morning for a few days, too. Just to help her adjust.

So that was my plan once I found out what her schedule has been. (*insert my rant about parents who don't prepare their children for a successful transition to a care environment*)

But she is miserable. Crying and clingy.

I let her sleep 8:30-9:30 this morning and she was falling asleep outside (and it is COLD here) and during free play. Barely made it until the afternoon.

Gah. Guess just try to push through it and get mom on board for this weekend.

It can make for some cranky kids until they transition. You can always do the nap earlier than you nap, but later than she is used to, and keep pushing it back. Like, start by putting her down at 10:00 tomorrow. The next day, 10:30, etc.
