    Sick Policy

I have a one year old at my daycare with thick stuff running from ear. It looks like snot. He has an ear infection and on second round of antibiotics. No fever. But gunk is everywhere. On the toys that are shared by 4 other infants/toddlers and of course everything goes in the mouths at this age.
Send him home? The mom says it's not contagious but it is GROSS. I don't the other kids in it!
    Help.

My nephew gets ear infections and sometimes he will have puss drain out of his ear. It isn't flowing like a river or anything and I can catch it before it even makes it to his shirt.

Ew! Yes, I would send home and can't return until 24 hours of no discharge from his ear.

      Sanitary and health reasons.

        this ^^

I also make it clear to my parents that contagiousness is only ONE of the reasons I exclude. Sanitary issues are second but equally as exclusionary.

Yeah, that's gross. Exclude, it's a bodily fluid that is getting everywhere! I feel bad for you, I could just imagine.
