    Magnets vs Felt Board

I want a storytelling area in the "reading corner". Whichever I go with I want to put a large board low on the wall along with some small boards that the kids can use on their laps. Whatever I do will be DIY.

I haven't really ever messed with an actual felt board since I was a kid, but I remember them not sticking very well. I'm also afraid the kids will just rip/stretch the felt and that it'll attract cat hair, ! But it does seem like a lot of people prefer felt? I figure with magnets I can just print, laminate, and stick magnets to the back, which sounds easier. It also sounds easier to sanitize!

I usually have infants-3, this would be mostly used when I do "circle time" and by the "bigs" during centers.

I have a wall that is about 3 feet tall that I turned into a felt board wall. I found that felt didn't stick very well, so I laminate pictures of whatever I want, and add a strip of velcro to the back. It works beautifully, cleans easily, and is a whole lot easier/cheaper than trying to cut your own felt items, or buying them pre-made. I keep all of the pieces put away until we are using them, so that the kids don't just run off with them. As far as the cat hair? I wish you luck! I run a lint roller over mine, but even that is somewhat limited.
