    2016 Holidays Question

I know its a long way off but just noticed xmas and new years falls over the weekend in 2016. My contract states I take xmas eve & xmas day and ny eve and ny day as paid holidays. I currently do not have any clients on Fridays so this year I actually only got 2 paid days instead of 4. Next year the "eves" fall on saturdays and the "days" fall on the 2 sundays. Would you take any paid days?? I am thinking of at least taking the Mondays but would be silly to take Jan 2nd if that's the day the kids go back to school (not sure about that yet, school calendar isn't out yet).

    What will you be doing??

I would love to do this but I know my families would really be in a jam if I did.

on google it looks like Mon 12/26 is going to be considered the federal holiday for banks so I am at least taking that.

I always put in my contract that if a holiday lands on the weekend I take Monday or Friday off of my choosing. Our plan some vacation days around that time. Paid, of course!

Will their jobs give them additional days for the days falling on a weekend? My dcf's jobs will. Most anyway, and I'm not staying open for one or two, as tempting as that sounds

              Copied from my policy handbook:

"The following holidays, daycare will be closed and tuition will not be reduced for the weeks in which a holiday falls.* If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, daycare will be closed Friday or Monday, respectively."

So December 2016 I will take Friday the 23rd and Monday the 26th.

I asked this very same thing a month ago! I always send out a list of paid closures in January for the upcoming year, so I needed to know now.

I am closed with pay Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

My HB states that if a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday I will be close either Friday or Monday therefore I am closing both Friday 12/23 and Monday 12/26 as well as 1/2. I deserve my paid holidays

Since I have them listed as paid days off and they fall on a weekend, I just use them somewhere else in the year.

I don't limit myself to having to take a Friday or Monday right after the holiday. Like someone else said, sometimes the day after just isn't the right time to take off....

How would they be in a jam? They have a solid year to plan for it. Do what's best for YOU. They will figure it out. I promise you that.

I know I could do it, I just like to be pretty fair about things. I do have in my contract I reserve the right to take the Friday/Monday when a holiday falls on the weekend but since I am off on Fridays right now I don't feel its fair to take the Thursday when no one else is off at that time. And taking the Mon thru Thurs really isn't an option in my contract!

I don't take Christmas or New Years paid, but I do close the entire week for vacation... All my parents know this as of yesterday because it's on my website. Like it was said, your families have a whole year to plan their back up, and believe it or not, I've never lost a family because of when I take vacation. Most of my families actually have grandparents take over that week anyway because schools are closed - everyone of my families took vacation this past week just like I did

I figure my rates on 52 weeks, but then divide by 48 to get the weekly rate (for monthly the 48 is divided by 12)... the parents think my vacation time is unpaid, but we know better
