BIG, HUGE Sign On The Door...

NO SHOES IN HOUSE. THANK YOU. Right there on the door. They can't possibly miss it. I have a fully enclosed breezeway where they hang jackets and take off the kid's shoes so it's not like they are stuck outside in the bad weather if they want to keep their shoes on but no...not one, not two, but three parents so far have ignored the sign and tromped their snowy, icy shoes into the house. UGH!!!

I have found that verbal statements work much better than signs and memo's.

    I would have stated immediately:

"Oh, Joanne! You must have missed my big sign posted by the door that said 'No shoes in the house'! Can you please remove your shoes before entering in the future please? Thank you!"

Most times, the actual "confrontation" sticks and they rarely repeat the behaviors.

I have decided people can't read. I have a no soliciting sign on my door. In the past couple of weeks, THREE guys selling meat have knocked or rang the bell.

This made me LOL! I think people chose not to follow rules because those little kids who the rules didn't apply to are now adults.

I wouldn't allow them past the breezeway. I WISH I had a breezeway or entry way. I would install a half door and lock it. Hand the kid over and be done. ::
