    Polar Express Ideas

Has anyone ever done a "Polar Express" day? If so what kinds of things did you do?

My school aged dck's get done early on Wednesday so I thought it might be fun to hand them a "train ticket" when they walk in the door.

So I'm going to set up the movie and line up chairs like a train. Then pass out hot cocoa that has been somewhat cooled down with cookies.

Love this. Anything other ideas please let me know!

My kids usually need a toy while watching a movie or they wander off. I would maybe put out my train set once the snacks were done. I am having a polar express theme pj party Saturday not sure everything we will do but I am sending each child home with a large bell

I will have kids until 3:30 or so Christmas Eve and I planned a Jammie day and we'll watch the movie before/during nap. (I have school agers that day, the babies will fall asleep) I planned on doing a hot cocoa breakfast and making a train from a large cardboard box for them to play in. We'll exchange gifts (dollar store coloring books bought by me) and eat a fun lunch then make a big pallet on the floor with pillows, blankets, and popcorn. After movie/nap we'll do a craft and everyone will get a jingle bell to take home.

We're going to read the book, have hot chocolate and watch the movie on Wednesday. Leading up to it- we're going to plant a candy cane seed on Monday (a peppermint candy in fake snow in a cup with candy sprinkles over the top). On Tuesday, they'll find a small candy cane growing out of their snow. They'll water it and on Wednesday, discover a full grown candy cane. They can eat their candy cane with hot chocolate before we cozy up to watch the movie. I will also set up the easel with chalk and paper so that they can draw what they would see out of the train window. I'll also set up the fisher price train for play on the manipulative table. I have a little fisher price "North Pole" as well. I usually cover the table with cotton batting for snow.
