    What to do? Screaming baby!

I am a new in home daycare provider. I have been open and running for about 2 months. I have a 3 year old (my son) and I have a 7 yr, and a 8 month. NExt week I have two more children starting. The 8 month old is my concern. He is CONSTANTLY crying, and wants to be held the entire time. Sometimes he has a good day, but mostly he wants to be held. It may be his teeth, but the parents are yet to assist in getting the medication forms filled out. I cannot provide proper care and attention to my son or the other kids starting next week with a screaming baby. What is your advice? What can I do?

If you can let the child go, I would.

Infant care is challenging enough when the baby is "good" but it's almost impossible when you've got a screamer.

You can tell the parents that while you love caring for the baby he just seems unhappy and would probably do better with a nanny. The last day of care is _______.

I was wondering the same thing... I certainly wouldn't be open to medicating a child because of teething...

Especially when there is no proof it's actually teething AND because if it were teeth, one would think he would be in pain whether he is being held or not.

If a child requires medication in order to be happy and part of group care then he/she needs to be at home with a parent until they are feeling (and acting) well enough to be in care.

It is likely not teething if being held helps. 2 months is quite enough time to adjust to daycare and unfortunately for whatever reason this child is not adjusting well. My guess is attachment issues which I am seeing a lot of these days. My choice and advice would be to term. He seems to be causing a lot of stress for everyone and at the end of the day it's not your problem.

          This is your problem:
I cannot provide proper care and attention to my son or the other kids starting next week with a screaming baby.
