Criminal Record Statement CA license

Does anyone in California have experience/knowledge regarding this part of the application? The form requests information regarding "convictions." We have charges filed, and according to court records, they were dismissed or acquitted. Would these charges show up on the background check, even though they weren't technically convictions? I don't want to list unnecessary information, but I also do not want the application to be rejected because they think we're withholding information. The charges were exemptible.
