    Required Steps in Tri-Level Basement

Hello! I have recently become an empty-nester, I am moving my space to my finished tri-level with a half bath! YAY! State (Michigan) requires I have permanent steps (cannot be a ladder nor can it be portable) in front of one of the windows as an emergency escape should fire break out on the main floor, which is 6 steps up. I agree, it's smart and safe, I am just having an extremely difficult time finding a solution that isn't custom built. Anyone have a similar scenario?

I was thinking pet steps, made of wood, and securing to the wall. Oh, the thought of putting holes in my walls!

I'd run that idea by licensing just to be sure.

Totally understand not wanting to put holes in your walls but I'll tell you right now, running a child care in your home will make holes in your walls the least of your worries.

I've seen stair stepping shelving. Flat against wall. 16 inches deep. The steps don't intrude into room, rather they are against wall. Another provider used pool steps. Lol. Gate and all.
