I do this and this year we are having a get together with all the families. I actually really like almost all the families that I have right now. I am thinking I will also use my Scholastic points to get them each a Christmas themed book.

        It's good advertising too

As for gifts for the DCK's....I don't give them anything but memories through experiences and honestly I don't feel one bit guilty because a 100 years from now, they are going to remember those memories long after they've outgrown the cute holiday pj's and since I do it for the kids, I don't have to worry about being appreciated or not.
        I like this idea. :-)

We do this all year long. Good idea to submit to newspaper!

Each DCK got a hardback "5 minute bedtime stories" book.

We also make a keepsake craft for the parents to keep. This year I think I am going to have the children decorate an ornament for their trees. I am unsure if I want the children to decorate a wooden one or if I want to have them decorate one of the clear ones you can put a photo inside.

I make play-doh most years. A big batch is just pennies. I have 20 kids on my books.....not about to buy 20 gifts! I collect empty formula cans and cover them in Christmas paper and fill it with the play-doh. They love it.

Hmm we usually get our provider a Starbucks gift card with a mug the child pick out. And baskets of baked goids I hope that is enough.

It usually isn't the gift so much but just the fact that you show your appreciation that your provider probably loves!

A coffee mug, gift card and basket of goodies is honestly a very nice gift in my honest opinion.

Absolutely! Last year one dc family gave me some homemade granola because they know how much I love granola. It was very thoughtful.

Most of the families I work with are impoverished, so I most likely won't get anything of monetary value from any of "my" kids, and that's ok. I do get each family a Christmas Eve box with a ten dollar Christmas movie, jammies, kiddy cup, and a popcorn tin to share. And because it's my first year and I'm in need of toys (and it's a tax write off) I "give" each of my full timers a daycare toy to keep here. I don't give gifts to my drop ins, as I have several that I only see on a snow day or whatever and that can get expensive.

I used to get individual gifts for all of my children. It started getting hard for me to come up with new ideas, so several years back, I decided to get pajamas for my all of little ones. I have gotten matching ones for the boys and matching ones for the girls. I give them their gifts a couple days before I am off for Christmas and we have a pajama party the day before my Christmas holiday.

Last year I made all the kids their own "flubber" to take home since it was a huge hit then.

This year I did a "secret Santa" sign outside my room with little tags attached and members who go the Y take them, buy/donate the item and drop them off. Nothing big, just supplies like paint, playdoh and board games, which generally I had to buy because the Y doesn't help ever. THANKFULLY, one of the major board members saw my sign, took most (if not all) of the tags and is bound to donate a major amount sometime this week. Also a parent from my room works for FedEx, took a picture of my sign and now FedEx has collected over $50+ of donations for us. So the kids will be getting a lot of new things this coming week, which is my gift to them.
We will also probably have a pizza party on their half day before Christmas vacation.
