I have a variety of part time slots open at the moment. I can't take any more full time clients and I don't want to term any part timers. Has anyone had any success filling part time slots? If so, how did you do it?
I advertise the slots that I have available as well as advertise for drop-ins. So if I have a T-W spot open then I advertise for it. Usually it's the WAHM's or SAHM's that like to sign up for 1 or 2 days a week so that their kids get socialization. They're usually also my drop-in clients on days that they have appointments etc.
If you have clients that have irregular schedules then it's harder and you'll have a hard time finding regular clients to take those spots ... ok, it's pretty much impossible ... because then their daycare days will depend on your irregular client, not too many clients would be okay with having their daycare schedule depend on whatever your availability is unless they are drop-in.
I create family contest events where I get the parents to advertise for me.
we had a family car contest over the summer where each family helped build a car for their child. then we put the pictures on FB and the parents had to promote our page (their car) and the car with the most likes won.
I got 12 calls from that within 2 weeks and didn't have to do anything but hold the contest, which we would have done any ways.
best idea I have had yet.
we did it again with a pumpkin decorating contest
we will do it again with a tom the turkey.
our parents loved it and I love that I got the advertising for free.
I am terming a part time family I love today I have had a MWF spot open around their TH spot for 6 months. Its twins, so its hard to fill the two PT spots around them, where with a single child it might be easier. I have a waiting list of people wanting full time - have to do what I have to do to be full.
I did however have luck for 3 years with a variety of part time schedules. I would advertise the days I had available, there is a big need for part time care, its just a matter of scheduling. Someone else mentioned drop ins - I usually filled 1 day a week with drop ins which is good money but occasionally quite a bi more work.

This is so creative. I have a lot of younger families who are on social media. (Both IG and FB) I am definitely stealing this idea.
I think I will try this, along with target advertising the spots I have.
My slots right now are a.m preschool (just one) and random days. I have a few Monday and Friday openings, so they are best suited for drop-in care.

I hate social media.. I didn't have anything to do with it up until this year. I only have a FB for the preschool.
I tell parents this:
I understand you may need more days, my only advice is to get in to the program that way you have first right of refusal when the next full time spot of XYZ spot opens up.
Otherwise if you stay on the waiting list, you may be there for quite some time, enrolled families will always have priority of new openings.

I only have Instagram for the preschool. I do use Facebook personally to keep in touch with family but I use my business Facebook page more than my personal one.

I tell parents that I give priority to families who do drop ins who are on my wait list since I know them, and they transition better. I have had 1 drop in family for 6 months waiting for a FT spot to open. Its nice to get to know them before hand. I may have to steal the contest idea too. I use FB for business and personal, and all my families do too. I am not on instagram but I know most of them are...such a good idea.
