Now that the hornets are gone

I cut down my hornet nest. It was very interesting to investigate it with the dcks this a.m. As much as I loathe(and am scared to death of) hornets for obvious reasons, it's fascinating how they build this home for themselves, place the eggs in these little cells, and cover them. We opened a couple of the cells and found baby ones. layers and layers of cells, layers of paper coverings, it was just all rather cool.
