First Post - One Quick Question Please

Hello everyone - Apologies if this question has been answered before, but I cannot find any precise answer. I am a clinician in family medicine, about 50 years old. Would like to welcome a couple of young adults with disabilities in my home. An MA, nanny, or RN, paid by me, will take care of their personal needs. Do I need a specific additional license ? What about insurance? Is there anything else I should be concerned about ? I just want to make sure I do everything legally and the right way. Thank you for any advice.

I have no clue, and am not sure many of us would. You really need to check with someone at your state level to find that out. It could vary by state, just as child care licensing does. It is likely not handled by the same people that do child care.

In most states, yes to all of the above. My neighbor operated a care home for awhile. She cared for the elderly and I cared for little ones. It is a heavily regulated industry. Check your state laws. Google something along the lines of licensing for care homes for the disabled in Californoa. (Or wherever you live)
