    A Mouse!

Ahhh! So in the process of my dog passing away - over the last 10 days the back door was almost always open so he could go in and out easily and he had a bowl of food on the porch by the open door he wasn't eating...I totally invited rodents into my home

I just saw a little mouse run down the hall (from a bedroom or bathroom! gross!!!) and into the kitchen. Where, I realized I hadn't cleaned around the garbage as much as I should have. I chased him around a bit, trying to get it to run outside, and failed...it ran under the oven and who knows where now.

Any experience with this? I am thinking those sticky traps around the garbage and by the door...I don't know. But my dh is going to FREAK. The man is terrified of mice. Yep...this weekend is going to be an intense

Personally, I'm with your husband on this! I don't do non-domestic critters!

Well, in my personal experience with a mouse getting in my house, I ran away from the house and let my 2 cats chase the thing to death! Then I called Terminex to get a quote on their services and while the Terminex man was here, I got him to remove the dead mouse from my house.

If you don't have cats, maybe you should get one... or two.

People also suggested those glue traps and those trap boxes that you put peanut butter in.

If you have pets, I would not suggest using poison to kill the mouse because if another animal eats the mouse after it eats the poison, you will also poison the animal that eats the mouse.

Unfortunately I am super allergic to cats. Probably a good thing or I would have run straight to the humane society and picked up half a dozen ::

I think I am going to start with the glue traps and trap boxes you suggested, I will go pick some up in the morning.

I just spent 2 hours (which were supposed to be dedicated to wine and netflix ) cleaning my pantry, lazy susan cupboard, dh's and my room, laundry room and bathroom. I will do the kid's rooms in the morning.

Turns out my body has the same reaction to seeing a mouse as it does to hearing the word "lice". <Shudder!>

"Turns out my body has the same reaction to seeing a mouse as it does to hearing the word "lice". <Shudder!>" :: Yeah, makes you want to clean and disinfect EVERYTHING! However, mice actually like clean spaces too! They not only come inside for food, but also for a nice dry, warm home. So, you can clean your butt off, and still get mice.

I am not a fan of the glue traps. I just use the regular traps (they make them in black plastic now...Black cat traps or something). The glue ones will leave the stuck and alive, so you still have to kill them from what I know. The regular traps do it quick and then you just toss it out. Sunflower seeds in the Shell are great bait! Rule of thumb, if you catch two or more quicly, keep your traps set for a few months longer....you may have more.

We tried those and had no luck with them. I think we must've had smart ones. They would avoid the spring traps, no matter what type of bait we used. I absolutely did not want to use the glue traps for the reason you mentioned, but that is what we ended up having to do.

If you have a small dog, ensure all the traps are up high daily. One of the critters knocked a glue trap off the dryer and our Yorkie stepped in it. It was a nightmare to get her out of that thing.

Cab is supposed to work and is a natural repellent. We used it where I worked many years ago. Our school was in a very country area with a lot of mice running in the fields. We kept packs of cab here and there and hidden all around. Don't know if it kept them away or not, but worth a shot.

This is just the first site that came up- not a place I ordered from or anything. Just to show you what it is. You can probably get it at home depot, etc..

I got one in the glue trap! It was super sad, but glad little mouse is no longer in my house. I have 3 traps still up, hoping there aren't anymore to be caught but feeling a little less creeped out and not hearing squeaking at night.
