    Would You Close?

My house is in serious need of some reorganization, cleaning, and decluttering. I feel like I"m drowning in mess and chaos and I can NOT bring a baby home to this mess--even if it weren't for daycare I couldn't do it. If I do, it's going to throw me into PPD again and I can NOT handle that again, not this time, not no way, not no how.

I am thinking about closing for one or two days at the end of the month--less than my usual notice but I don't think I can stand waiting much longer than that. I would send DD to her grandparents and DH to work and just get it all done at once.

Would you do such a thing?

This might just be a pregnant anxiety attack (Yeah, I get really bad anxiety during pregnancy and it manifests in weird ways) and I might feel more...calm...about it in the morning, but I'm wondering about it now, soooo....

You know your families best. Do they all have pretty good back-ups? It's pretty short notice if they don't, but if they all have pretty good back-ups then I think you should be fine to get a couple of weeks off early. Are you taking a maternity leave?

I don't blame you for wanting to get things in order before the baby comes. It's a busy enough time but then to have daycare kids there all day, it makes it impossible to get things done.

We all deserve a day off here and there...I know it's hard for some parents to find a back up...but I say take a day or 2 and get it done. I personally stress out if everything is cluttered and disorganized so if you need to get this done, take that day or two...unless you can fit it in on the weekend.

Kendallina I'm just looking for a couple days...though a couple weeks would be heavenly, ! I'm not taking much of a maternity leave; I just can't afford it and I know my families can't either.

SunshineGirls, I work 6 days a week (though one day is only one dcb and that's a special consideration) but even so, with my DD here, only so much can get accomplished. And with my DH here, even less so . Otherwise, evenings and weekends would be fine.

You are open six days a week and are pregnant. You deserve time off to get things done. Close up for a few days, I would give notice now though. I know for me if I have to see the clutter and all of that it drives me insane and I get cranky ::

i'm pregnant too, and I know just what you mean. Hubby and I spent Christmas holidays decluttering and organizing every room in the house. Before Christmas, I thought I was going to go crazy if I had to look at the clutter filling everything for another day! I feel so much better since I reopened after Christmas, with the organizing done. I think you should do it - hire someone to help you if you can afford it! Even just a friend to bounce ideas off of, and be a bit of a gopher (this goes in that closet, this goes in the giveaway box etc). I had my husband and 7 year old do those jobs for me.

This is not the same thing but a couple of years ago I had a house full of sick kids, it went on and on, round and round for what seemed like forever. No matter how much I cleaned and disinfected it just didn't end. Finally I had had enough and I told everybody that I was closing Thursday and Friday for two reasons, one the kids needed to get away from each other and two I needed to bleach the house. I cleaned everything and it felt great.

I say if you can, do it!

Oh I must have misread it, 'a couple of weeks', maybe I was dreaming. A couple of days? I would do it!

I would do it. We had to move on New Years Day. I gave my families one month notice, that I would be taking the Monday after New Years off. Told them I could be set up for kids in 48 hours, but Not 24 hours LOL.

They all understood. Two took PDO time and one has flexibility and works 3 days a week, she just took another day to work.
