    That One Certain Child...

    I got a new dcg6 who started 2 weeks ago, getting on and off the bus M-F. Things have been going very smoothly with the parents, payments, communication and all my policies so far. And here comes the BUT... This girl is a non-stop talker. Constantly asking questions, gets in everyones personal space, wants a hug every five minutes, tells me she loves me (on the first day of coming here even!) and she screeches/screams with any little excitement. Now my youngest daughter is the same age, same grade, and they clash like oil and water. My daughter is very shy, gets really uncomfortable when dcg gets in her personal space to talk, and is sensitive. We've talked about personal space, and excessive hugging (we've switched to high fives) and the reasons why we dont scream in the house. The only problem i am having trouble finding a solution to, is the NON. STOP. TALKING. I hate to say the word "annoying" when it comes to a child, but she is. Have any of you had a talker? And how do you cope, so you dont go insane??

    :: I have several. When I get tired of hearing it I simply tell them, "o.k. Ms M needs you to relax a bit and quiet down. Go find something to do." If they "forget" I direct them to their reading/homework or just say no more talking.

      Two weeks is long enough to get it.I would sit everyone down and explain "the rules".No loud talk-screaming be aware of personal space ect.I always felt a good runaround outside right after school got a lot of pent up energy out. Maybe you could start in the yard then snack and if your daughter needed a break either away from dcg or just homework first.If you have younger children what about dcg telling a story to them while you get snack.

          Do you have my child at your daycare? Send her home immediately.

          ::::

          I am lucky that my child goes to school!! It is definitely attention seeking behavior. My child is insatiable when it comes to attention. No matter how much she gets she wants more. Likely comes from having doting parents from birth to 3.5 when her crazy little sister was born and started stealing all the spotlight with her non stop tantrums

              I've had talkers in the past, but this one takes the cake! Lol. Sweet sweet girl, but man can she talk! Littletots, she is so in tune with her feelings an emotions, I was thinking psychologist or something of that nature! :: she is always saying "that makes me happy/sad/excited/etc" or "im so frustrated/hungry/nervous/etc" Thanks for the link Cat Herder, very interesting! I think I will try some of the small positive attention ideas. Thanks to everyone else for letting me vent

                  do you have little kids? have her tell them stories and talk to them. I had this one, she just went off to kinder thank goodness for me... So I know how you feel.

                  I used to have her talk to the toddlers, she would be me (teacher) and they would all play school. I let her be as long as she was not being mean. But boy oh boy was she bossy....ggggeeerrrr.
