I have a question about getting licenced in the state of lasvegas nevada .not lisece you are allowed 4 kids per house. (Not per adult).lisecend you are allowed 6 kids .so my question is it worth getting liscened for only two extra kids.I heard its very costly to get liscened, so is it worth for two extra and to have state come in and out.also does anyone no how hard it would be to get like a group family home liscened which can watch up to 12 or 15 I would perfer the group liscened seens like it would be more worth it.

License or not
There are three licensing entities that work in the city of Las Vegas: City, County and State. City and County licensing is very similar and they both state that you can not care for any children (that aren't related to you) without a license. State is the only one that allows you to care for children without a license and that number is four.
If you became licensed in City or County then you can care for six children, State is five. So, my answer to you about whether or not it's worth getting licensed is yes for City and County and possibly for State.
I will say that, if you've never done licensed care before, then it is absolutely worth it to become licensed. The training and support that I received was invaluable and taught me so much about how to run a business and safety/educational/nutritional information for caring for children. I would definitely recommend getting licensed. It isn't difficult and shouldn't cost too much money if your home is newer (which most homes in Vegas are
) You can network with other providers and learn so much!
Oh, and I once looked in to opening a group home when I was licensed for County. It would have required some expensive upgrades (adding a handwashing sink to my already smallish kitchen was one I can remember) to my home and it turned me off to the idea. It might be worth it to you, though.

Thank you if the group liscence doesn't require to many updates I will probably get that .I already have my cpr, first aid, health card , sheriff card (background check) and I have taken all childcare classes. Is like a couple hundred to get liscenced? Ive been trying to get hold of licencing but they barely anwser.I know the have a classes once a month for liscence information.I will attend the class when I get the dates.Comment
