    styrofoam plates

Our school district wants us to serve Head Start & Day Care & Pre-K children using polystyrene trays. Isn't there a regulation protecting us from the chemicals that may transfer to their hot lunch?

I would think it would be an added expese and contributing to land fills.

I've heard some bad things about Styrofoam, but that doesn't mean that the regulation has caught up to it. It may also vary from state to state.

In California it's quite common to serve meals and hot drinks in Styrofoam, so I'd be surprised (in a good way) if schools have rules against this.
