I've been really emotional over the decision to close my daycare. My DH got promoted at work. His salary increased enough to cover my income so my income is not so vital.
We have decided that this year will be my last year. Since I run a school year only program, I'm really struggling with the decision to finish out the school year or close at the end of this calendar year. In a perfect situation, I would finish the school year, but...
If I wait to finish the school year, my own kids will be in high school next year... I've never had the opportunity to drop off/pick up my kids from school, or have a lunch date with them, etc. By the time they are in high school, I doubt they want their momma showing up at school to have lunch with them. :
: I feel like I missed out on so much with this profession...
Also my license expires in March. I do not want to jump the hoops to renew my license for an additional 2 months to be able to finish the school year.
There are also other expenses that we'd incur after the first of the year in order to keep my business going for a few more months: liability insurance, software fees, cpr and training requirements for license renewal...
Right now I have a baby (posted about a week or 2 ago..) who will not stop crying. I'm honestly ready to be done. Right. Now. But thought if I'm closing anyway, I could stick out the crying baby until I'm done.
I have 5 families right now, 3 of which are teachers. I'd like to finish the school year for them, but just not sure it's worth it for ME.
Any thoughts or advice? Thanks for listening.
