    Growing a Backbone is Hard

I've changed my hours drastically beginning next week, and have lost four children because of it. One of the kid's last day is Friday. She's only been here about ten weeks and the mom has paid late (with $10 late fee) every single week. Because it's Wednesday, and there is no way I'm going to just trust she will pay by Thursday, I said she can't stay today without payment. Mom had to leave with her child to go get it. I'm shaking, but I did it.

        Good job standing your ground!
It's a shame you even had to.
DCM should have paid on time, every time as she agreed to do upon enrollment.
Her behavior caused you to have to be stern and I'm sure in her eyes you are the bad guy.

Has she returned? What is/was her attitude like towards you?

She has not returned or called. Her attitude wasn't differentvthsn normal; she's extremely quiet and doesn't really say ANYthing.

This is why I have all my families pay BEFORE the week starts. I do agree though it is hard finding the backbone. I have found mine, but still working on making it stronger.

Same. I do not offer payment after services.

If they don't pay Friday, they can pay in cash Monday morning with a $50 late fee.

Just had a family show up Tuesday morning, with their weekly fee of 175, and I turned them away because they were missing the late fee. In my case, mom was obviously miffed, but it was a holiday weekend, she forgot! I forget to pay my bills 3 days before Labor day, too.

I also have parents pay before. Payment is due at drop off on Mondays. I was closed on Labor Day and age had paid for yesterday with a previous check. Today, payment was due for Wed-Fri, withFriday being the child's last day.

I hear you! I have a dad who is like that, it went so far as to be behind 2 weeks. I hate having to put my foot down, because I almost feel like I am begging for my wages. I do not u serstand why parents can't show us respect and pay for their child's care!
