    Need Handbook Wording Please

I had a parent pick up dcb yesterday smelling like weed (It was really strong. My husband could smell it about 20 min. after he left and I would have been really mad but his son was my last child for the day). I don't have anything in my handbook about if a parent picks up their child under the influence. I had a long conversation with the dad about a few things and he seemed fine and per TX regulations I cannot deny him from picking up his son. How do you handle this and how is it addressed in your handbook? I just want to have a plan for the future.

    From my handbook.

    5. Any person picking up your child in an impaired condition will be encouraged to find alternate transportation. I cannot legally withhold a child from a guardian, but if I feel a child is in jeopardy, I will not hesitate to contact the police. Again, your child’s safety is paramount

Personally I would be livid. Showing up at my home to get your child from my business stoned/ smelling of pot would be an immediate term unless you had a REALLY good reason explaining why you weren't under the influence. I would treat it no differently than smelling of booze. Would try to get them to get someone else to drive home, but if they left with their child I'm calling 911 as they're pulling out the driveway.

I tried to attach mine on here but wasn't able to (because I'm on mobile?). Mine says pretty much the same as Dave, and I'd do the same. Hard situation!

        THIS!
We are not allowed to stop you from taking the child but if we feel its an endangerment to the child we can call the cops. I only know this cause I had a parent this past school year who was either high, drunk or on pills when she picked up. It broke my heart for the little dudes but other than call the cops, I was pretty powerless. (Luckily she "straightened up" when her "husband" got back out of prison... Haven’t seen them since. )
