    Assistant Payment

    How much should I pay my assistant Monday-Friday 40 hours a week. I'm a single mother I make only 4,000 dollars a Month daycare business. The only reason I need an assistant is I'm 2 points over. I can only afford to pay 360 a week. Am I being to cheap. Please give advise

        I would be paying 9 dollars an hour min wage is 7.25 in VA. I pay total 360 a week 1440 a month. My daycare is located in NOVA northern VA. I seems my payments is low??? Advise please

          If you are above min. wage that is fine, but don't forget to figure in the part of taxes, soc sec etc you will have to pay in for your employee. You may want to talk to an accountant or tax advisory first.

              The COLA in NOVA is high compared to many other parts of VA and even MD & DC have higher minimum wages because of the high cost to live in that area... in order to keep good help you might have to offer at least 10 per hr - as was pointed out, you need workers comp & to pay taxes too. Do you offer any perks like holidays off with pay? that could offset a higher rate.
