    New to Home Daycare

I used to work in a center so I have experience but I recently opened my own center 3 months ago. So sorry for all of the posts. I have a 15 month old boy who is delayed with language. I have been refraining from telling mom I'm worried because everyone develops differently and he may very well catch up. I have shared with her the CDC developmental checklist when I did baseline evaluations 2 months ago. It said right on there to consult a ped if they are not pointing, using any gestures, etc. Should I bring it up to her that she should talk to the ped about it or leave it to her since she has the resources and the doctor I'm sure will ask questions about what he does and doesn't do? I was pretty worried about him for a minute but he's now in the last few days said a few words. He also makes eye contact very well, engages with laughing and coming for hugs. He is supppppeeeeeerrr active. Never sits down. Just started playing with things a mo ago. Before he would just run back and forth across the room pushing furniture around. He in the past did the baby sign for all done for a day and then completely stopped doing it. He doesn't wave. He seemed in the last couple of days to hold his hand up kind of like a wave. In the last 3 days he said done once, up up a few times, etc. My one worry though is the no waving, no pointing, and the getting skills and then losing them later that he has shown previously.

I have had MANY 15 mo olds who didn't talk and by two I couldn't get them to shut up. I would not worry.

I'm not worried about the not talking. I am worried about not pointing, using gestures, and when he does learn a skill he loses it very quickly.

Sounds like you've explained the behavior to her, otherwise I would let it go and leave the rest up to her.

That was my thought too. Thanks for the second opinion.
