    Changing Days

    Sorry. Kind of long.
So I have 3 kids that fill one f/t spot. Under 2 Monday's only, under 2 t,w,th; and 4yr only Fridays. Perfect!!
Well dcd of t,w,th asked what the possibility of adding Monday's would be. I said I could add that day. It would change rate to xyz.
He said ok I'll let you know because person who watches dcb on Mondays schedule is changing. I said ok.

Next day dcd says well so and so is adamant on watching dcb one day a week. So can we change to m,t,w. Instead. If not I will just go to 4days a week I guess.
So my problem is while I do have the spot for under 2 on Mondays I really don't want to move him and not make more money because it will ruin my f/t opening for under 2. But I'm willing to do this if it ups my income a bit. How do I tell him that I'm not willing to move days only add days? Because even though he said he would take the 4days if I couldn't do it I'm not sure I want to risk losing them over it incase he or dcm change their mind. And want to give so and so a day during the week to watch dcb. Kwim?

    I would tell DCD

"Because you occupy a part time space the ability to swap days is not an option. If you would like to attend on a full time basis, I can terminate my part time kids to make room for you but it would be a permanent move and the rate for the full time space would be required."

The person currently watching the under two on Mondays wants to continue watching him, but not on Mondays? But if you change his days around, you'll lose your full time open spot that someone else could take? Am I getting it right? I think I'd tell the dad what you mentioned. That you can only add Monday but cannot switch days around. That wouldn't be fair for you to lose the income from a full time spot just because his current Monday provider can no longer watch him on Mondays. If you think you'll be able to fill that full time spot, even if dad does pull under two out, you'll lose out on more money in the end by giving up that full time spot to a part timer than you would losing a part timer. But I wouldn't imagine he'd pull him out of your program just because of that unless he's looking for a reason to pull him out anyway.

Thanks! I will let him know I cannot change days. Only add on days.

I offer part time care on a set schedule (SAME days week in and week out. No changing days.) The family pays only for the part time days scheduled so less than full time.

I also offer part time care with the ability to swap/change days but since that means having to leave space open "in case" they want a certain day, they must pay for a full time space since ALL the days are being left open just in case they want them.

That is the easiest way to explain this kind of thing to parents.
