Oh, I tell them all of that too. But they many of them still have a cow if they get a speck of dirt on them.

I only have a couple of kids now. A couple of them are new and the one that's been here, I know she won't get upset if her child gets dirty. Hopefully this group will not flip out over dirt.

I will start highly emphasizing that we WILL get dirty during outdoor play on my interviews for new clients.

Tell them what I do "it is hard to have fun without getting dirty, we will play in the water, the sand, the dirt, we will draw, paint, use chalk. At the end of the day we are learning the FUN way".

One of my previous parents actually told me that their child's jeans alone were $50.00! I looked at her like she had lost her mind and asked her why in the world she would buy $50.00 jeans for a 2 year old and why would she send her child to daycare in them. She said that she only buys the best for her child. I just said, 'HE'S 2!' She found another daycare for him not too long after that conversation.

It's almost become a joke with my moms and dads, to try guessing our activities by their appearance. Though I did have to explain that the greenish blueish marks on the 11 mo legs were from the food coloring used to make our ice chalk, they looked like horrible bruises at first glance!

I had one parent tell me I can't send their child home "covered" in paint without posting pictures of the activity ::

Gettin dirty and its ok daycare

Anyone just opening should come up with a certain business name to deter those that want to keep the kids free of dirt.
