Changing from Infant/Toddler to Preschool ~ How to let them know?

Member but logged out for privacy, I think some of my parents stalk me on here! LOL, jk...but you never know.

Currently I have two infants and three toddlers who are approaching preschool age. I have decided that I would like to offer a preschool only program and so would need to let my infants go. I don't really want to but I need to for my own sanity! With a preschool program I could cut back my work hours, work less days (I'm looking to offer a 3 or 4 day program only) but still make roughly the same income (more kids for lower price) and then would have time for myself and the classes I would like to take.

I'm just not sure how to notify the families of this change. I don't want to notify them too early in case they decide to leave right now but I'm thinking on starting preschool in January after winter break.

When would be the best time to let them know? How should I tell them? Anyone else have any experience doing this? TIA

I was looking for a previous thread that had notification posts but this one is the closest to your question: https://www.daycare.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49853

Are you sure you want to start in Jan? Around here most of them run with the school year so starting in Jan. might keep you from getting enrollments right away. Just something to look into.

I think your plan to go to preschool sounds good, but I definitely agree with PP. Starting in January might be really hard to find kids. If you do decide to start in January, definitely don't tell the infant's parents until mid-late November. Usually I would suggest waiting until 3-4 weeks beforehand, but with Christmas, finding care could be really difficult. Best of luck!
