When and how do y'all decorate your homes for fall? I need some new ideas and when is it acceptable?
Fall Decorating

I was literally just thinking about this this morning! Glad I am not the only one looking forward to fall
I have a shelf above my TV/entertainment area that I decorate with faux pumpkins, leaves, etc. This year we are also doing an autumn tree. DD and I LOVE Christmas (and the tree) but since it might be a little weird to put a Christmas tree up in October, I thought we would decorate the tree with pumpkins, fall leaves, sunflowers and the like and then switch it out after Thanksgiving for Christmas decor.- Flag

I'm getting none of that crisp frosty morning feeling yet, can't wait to go apple-picking excitement, looking for orange pumpkins for sale alongside the back roads anticipation or the 'oohs and ahhs' of leaves changing color yet. Nope, not feeling it.
Another month maybe. Then lots of leaf cut-outs go up inside along with tons of colorful kids' paintings, pumpkins, gourds, scarecrows, and outside I place a couple of those store bought stick scarecrows on either side of my front door, with corn stalks and pots of colorful mums.
Closer to Halloween I add ghosts, witches, etc.- Flag

I can't wait either!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE fall, Halloween and Christmas decorating!! I start with fall decorating and use a lot of red, yellow and orange artificial leaves, pumpkins, gourds, that sort of thing. Either real ones or fake ones made of plastic or foam. Pretty much any material that either won't break or won't hurt anyone if it breaks.
Once Halloween rolls around I like a "creepy" atmosphere without blood, scary skulls, knives etc. I put out jack o lanterns, candelabras, candles, plastic containers filled with creepy crawlers like fake spiders, ants, worms etc., spider webs etc. I do put out skulls but they are sugar skulls (we celebrate Dia De Los Muertos).
I also have the kids make holiday crafts and we hang those all over the house. They only take some of it home since I like to have those up as long as I can.- Flag

It took me many hours of hand drawing & painting then I added black stripes on the back & ribbons, glitter paint etc; I won 3rd place in a contest (only white pumpkin entered) - it was done in Memory of my cousin John who had just died on his Marine base. Lasted all the way thru Halloween & became the main attraction for trick or treaters along with my flickering purple string lights- Flag
