I have a child in care who is being treated for a sinus infection. For the last two days she has been coughing non stop and it also causes her to choke. I asked her dad this morning if she has had her medicine today because she was coughing in his face terribly. He said she has had her medicine. Should I send her home for the constant cough and choking?
Constant coughing and choking.

I would, especially if she cannot cover her mouth. I exclude for symptoms. Chronic cough is a symptom I have in my handbook to send home for.- Flag

I tell parents this.
just because they are small children does not mean that we are allowed to violate their personal rights. when a child is coughing to the extent that it is in all the other kids food or faces, it is just not fair at all and no one should have to put up with that, child or adult.
extreme coughing or constant coughing is grounds for exclusion. the reason you cough is to help your body get rid of foreign material or mucus from your lungs and upper airway passages, so that is going all over the place...sorry to be so graphic.
