    I am a daycare provider of over 20 some years. Question for you providers.....
    Do any of you get so frustrated with parents these days. I truly love taking care of the children,teaching and watching them grow, but it is the parents that get to me. They don't seem to want to discipline their kids at home these days and hot have to spend a lot to time with their children when they get them home. Not all parents are like this, but many these days are. Not sure why they wanted to have kids if they don't want to be with them that much. It is the child that suffers. Parents that work don't spend a lot of their time with their kids anyway because they are in daycare for 8-12 hours, so it just gets to me when I hear a Mom sat to me" I feel like am a better person for working and not being with them all day" I know that is not true with many that have to work, they most likely would want to spend more time with their kids, but it is those that choose to work and not raise the child themselves.

        Yup...been thinking about opening a drive-thru daycare. Drop your kid at the door, no need to come in, I'll pin your bill to their shirt and do the same when paying. No need to have any type of relationship with the parent. I'll even get one of those hose things that makes a "ding" sound when you drive over it so I know you are here like at full service gas stations.....

        Ok, I am kidding...but I can dream can't I????? ::

          your absolutely right. and it seems to be getting worse. I hate when people start posting on facebook about how they go out all the time, where are the kids, why are you hanging out with your children.

              No one said all of these parents 'wanted' to have kids. You don't apply for a child then hope one pops out. What some of them 'wanted' didn't involve thinking that far ahead, if ya know what I mean, wink wink.

              Sorry- I have some of the most irritating parents on the face of the earth, that should just leave their kids with me permanently, I swear.

                I always wanted to make a conveyor belt from my driveway to the front door. Parents place children on seat...ring bell on side of conveyor belt... push start button and the child comes to the door. And there would be a box next to the seat for payment!! Then in the evening parents ring bell and provider places child on conveyor belt and sends them to parent!

                  I completely understand. I personally don't want kids and freak out anytime my period is late. None of my plans for the future do not involve me having kids tagging along. I love kids and that's why I have a daycare. I love spending the day with them and then sending them home. Parents are the most difficult part of this job.

                    If we could just figure out how to convince the IRS that WE have the children more than the parents and therefore deserve the tax deduction!!!

                    I'm also sick of listening to state assisted parents tell me about their tax refunds of up to multiple $1000's each year for only having to work a couple hours a week and have their childcare paid for!!! I will never understand this! I work my butt off for long hours so the single parents with multiple babydaddies can reap the rewards!!

                      As taxpayers, we ALL work our butts off for others to reap the rewards. I've been horrified by parents taking advantage of the system, using their kids to get away with no job, wearing nice clothes, getting their hair 'did', and driving a car that costs 2x what mine is worth...All while asking for discounts, spending their days in line at Social Services office with their hand out, grocery store shopping buying steak and Haagen Daaz with the EBT card...I could go on and on. Sorry. bad mood.

                        Oh that one burns me up as well. I have a few families like that...getting back tons and we barely get one because we make tooooo much money. What a joke.

                          Oh how I agree with all of you. I hate going to the store and having the person in front of my pay with food stamps BUT then pull out 2 hundred dollar bills to pay for their beer and tobacco products. DRIVES ME NUTTY.

                          I have a mom who made to much to get state assistance so she went and asked her work to cut her hours so she can get it and they did it. Its horrible and makes me so angry. If someone truly needs it I think its great its their to help people get back on their feet, but so many abuse it.

                          Sorry totally hijacked the thread

                            SO Glad I am not alone with my frustrations about parents!!!!

                            If we all lived by each other, it would be fun to have a daycare provider's night out and just exchange our "daycare adventure's" and have a few glasses of wine!

                              It's really fun to start a daycare group in your area, and meet once a month or so- It is really great to get out, and complain, complain, complain!!!! You really do learn alot as well. We exchange our contracts, etc..
