I hope you feel better soon and I'm sorry to hear about tne power outage/food loss.

Thats happened to me too and it ****s!

Would your homeowners cover it at all?

I'm looking into the homeowners thing. If I remember correctly there is some kind of coverage. 3rd time this summer so far-though the other 2 times were under $100 in food loss so I didn't claim it. I'm saving up for a generator!

This is a long shot but we used to have frequent, short power interruptions. It affected our central air system or so the air conditioner guy told us. We contacted our power and light company and told them that the interruptions ruined our central air conditioner. I didn't think they would do anything but they did. I was amazed. They sent us a form to fill out and submit about the problem and lo and behold they paid for our air conditioner. Well it was still under warranty so they didn't have to pay for that but they paid to have the new one installed. The whole thing costed us zero.

I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask them so you should too. It might not work but then you've only lost the time of a phone call.

Years ago our freezer chest went and we lost a ton of food. I was told that unless it's well over $500 in food that it's not worth the claim - my agent specifically mentioned specific instances such as a family who purchased a cow or pig and had lost thousands.

And then of course as soon as they can, they'll drop your coverage
