do you just isolate them, put them to bed, etc, and finish out the day, or do you send all the other dck's home?
Also, if your child vomits once, do you close the next day?
If it is during daycare hours I isolate them, but I do close the next day. My thinking is that if I dont want parents to bring their children after vomiting for 24 hours I follow the same rule with my own kids. Just what I do, but I dont think that isolating them is bad, I just worry about my poor babies vomiting and not having mommy's full attention
My kids are teens now so when they're sick, they just stay up in their rooms or in the living room, away from the dc kids. When they were younger, if I knew they were sick before the dc families arrived, I would call the parents and give them the option to come anyway or find alternate care. When my kids got sick during the day, I isolated them, finished up the day and let parents decide at pick-up if they wanted to come the next day or not.
As a parent, I would have chosen to keep my kids away from day care if someone in the family was vomiting but I can't remember ever having a dc parent choose not to bring his or her kids to day care.
I call all the parents and close. As long as I think the vomiting is related to an illness and not something else like getting upset or eating something that didn't agree with them. I close the following day as well.
