    Outside Music Center

I am looking at building a more permanent music station. Now I have a bin of music toys I keep on the baby picnic table.

So far I have found wind chimes of keys and cans for a xylophone. What have you all had success with?

I have minimal construction skills so I am hoping with some rope, clothes pin, spray paint and a hammer will do

I saved an old xylophone because I saw this online and want to make one on the fence. It looks simple enough

How about an outdoor guitar. We went to a big outdoor kid park that had them. It was basically a wooden rectangle with wires across it. My kids liked going up to ping on the strings

You guys are killing me! I did the water wall, dino area, fairy area, mud kitchen, construction area, and a mud painting area and now I feel the need to add one of these!

My kids like to sing when we're outside. I bet they would love some musical instruments.

I love it. Music outside. My dh will not like the idea, he will see it as more work.

I did the construction area and it's hardly been played with. I did a water wall, same with that. I swear these kids have no imagination or at least not in the direction I'm leading them in I guess. They'd rather set up horse jumps and run circles around the yard. Which I guess is okay too. The younger crowd do like our kitchen area outside.
Mostly they use the tire swing and toddler swings. And the big old plastic climbing thing.

I would lovelovelove to see the dinosaur and fairy play areas!! Maybe it would give me some inspiration.

Just had to say that if you have loud clangy things, I wouldn't burden my neighbors with that. "Music" to preschoolers isn't 'music' to most people. I can never forget the disaster of having a kiddie tape recorder with a microphone. Horrors! I may be picky though as I don't even like wind chimes. Luckily my close neighbors don't have them and luckily I have hurricane windows and AC to not be able to hear them if they did. That tinkling sound is soooo annoying. We had two neighbors who both kept a loud bird outside (one in a garage) but luckily they were pretty far away so I'd only hear them when I took the kiddies for a walk.

Truth! Kids make interesting music. We live in the woods though. The only person they are going to annoy is me ::

Oh my goodness gracious you have to be kidding me. Do You people *ever* have even a modicum of consideration for your poor neighbors? An outside music center? A music center needs to go inside. You want it, you listen to it all day long.

Why do you presume to know someone else's neighbor situation? You want YOUR music center inside you put YOUR music center inside and the rest of us will put ours where we want to.
