Infant Ratio Question

I have a question for all you wonderful California providers. I am a small daycare and licensed for 8 children. I know that we have to be within ratio for infants on a daily basis. Can we can watch 3 infants and 3 older kids one day (not going over 6 kids total) and then the next day have 2 infants and 6 older kids. I would still be within the legal limit of infants, correct?

It sounds like you're asking about enrollment vs. attendance. From a licensing standpoint, they would only care if you are in ratio each day.

You can have different ages and numbers of children each day, as long as you alays within the ratio guidelines they gave you.

just remember that it is based off of who is in attendance, not on your roster.

so if you have 3 infants and want 8 kids then you can have 3 more kids 2-5, and 2 school age kids with one of them at least age 6......

If you had 3 infants (under 2 years) you'd have to have the other 3 be two years old or older and your max is 6 kids.

If you had 2 infants then four can be 2 years old and older, one must be at least age 6 and the other one has to be in 1st grade or older for a max of 8 like daycare said.

That's what I thought but I've only watched 2 infants so I could have up to 8 kids, never had 3 infants at one time before. Thank you!
