    Volunteer Question

I'm in California and I have a 17 year old friend of my daughter that wants to volunteer in my small daycare a couple hours a week. Since she's only 17 does she need:

    TB test?
    CPR/First Aid?
Fingerprinting (since she is not 18)?

Also, how many hours a week can she work and do I need to keep any paperwork on her for licensing?

Thank you for any help you can give me.

no she does not. But make her sign the required mandator paper work since she will be working with the kids.

since she is in school, she should be current on TB testing, if not she should have at least that.

also, check with workers comp and your liability ins about they might require

I don't know about CA, but I don't think our kids have to stay current with TB testing for school. As for the CPR/First aid, since you will be there it will likely be fine, but if you paid for half the class as a perk for her if she would take it, it would help you and her. Sort of a gift for helping you? Maybe I am crazy with that, but DD would be thrilled if someone offered to pay part of her re certification for life guarding this winter. In fact since she has used it at our church camp the last two years she has worked there and plans to go back, I told her to ask the boss if they will pay part of it.

Thriftylady, that is a good idea, thank you!

daycare, what are the "required mandator paper work" you talked about? I've never had a volunteer or assistant so I'm not sure what that is. Are there specific forms from the state's website that she would need to fill out or is that something that I would need to make on my own?
