    pottying at naptime

What do you do with the 4 year old who flat out refuses to try to go potty before nap, but then has to go every single day about 5-10 minutes after we lay down. It disrupts everyone who was already settling & leads to a chorus of "I have to pottys" across the room. I can't force her to pee so I don't know what to do.

"You don't HAVE to go, but you do HAVE to try." End of discussion. She would be going potty before rest. It's a delay tactic.

If you truly believe it is a ploy to delay having to nap, I'd add on another 10-15 minutes of nap time unless she figures out how to go before hand. A longer nap time than the others is sometimes a good way to stop the interruptions.

I agree with Diva though that you can't make them go but it does sound like if she is getting up without fail 10-15 minutes after lying down that she did need to go, just didn't.

I send her in & make her try, but I swear she is purposefully holding it & refusing to pee. She just repeats "I don't have to" constantly while in the bathroom. As soon as lights go out she magically has to go.

That's a great idea. She is one of my preschoolers so she has to rest for half an hour & then she is given the option to get up for lessons. Maybe if she doesn't get to get up with the other preschoolers if she doesn't potty beforehand it would fix the problem.

What about having her put a pull up on for nap on the days she won't go before? Or if she gets to get up after 30 min for lessons, then have her wait until that time to get up to go pee.
