    Train Table

So...thinking out loud here. My kids loved the train table at first, but quickly lost interest b/c the baby and toddler pull the tracks apart. So I put Thomas take & play sets on there & they loved it...for a week. Now they're bored again. I was thinking, what if I changed the train table activity each week & rotated through a few sets. But what else could I set up that would be fun and exciting, but safe for the little ones who still mouth things & fairly simple to clean up? Little people sets, cars, ooh a safari? I can think of cool things, but if I leave the table set up with pieces the baby will be pulling it apart any time in turned away & if I leave things in a tote near the table I find they don't take an interest. Any suggestions?

I think that is why infants are hard. It isn't that they are hard exactly, just that they can't have the stuff the preschool kids can. Do you have gates or a play yard that you can put the train table in?

I got a train table...minus the trains. Anything I put on there the kids gravitated to. I just rotated toys-like I have a Melissa and Doug wooden box that they put the balls and and push them down into the ramp, or I put my FP zoo on it, or I put my toy that looks like a gumball machine and they put the balls in the top and press I lever or button and a ball rolls out.

Like I said, my young kids (2 and under) just played better with a toy when it was on there. Now they are older but I still set out toys on there. Larger doll house, (not small FP house), I've used it as a science table, I've put puzzles on it, I've put on other FP play sets, cars and trucks, etc.
