NO accidents for at least two weeks. While even trained children can have an accident once in awhile (get busy doing something and don't want to stop perhaps), these should be the exception rather than the rule. More than one accident a month or so I would not call trained.

A potty trained kid is one who doesn't need me to go potty, and can do it all start to finish alone. A kid who doesn't have accidents, outside of the occasional "can't make it to the toilet with this diarrhea" kind of ones.

When I can say "Sally! Your turn to go potty!" and she goes. Alone. Wipes booty, washes hands, alerts me to any issues etc.

I tell parents potty training is the journey between children going in diapers as infants, noticing they are wet, asking to be changed, needing help taking on and off clothes, learning to wipe, etc. Its a long journey of teaching them self care skills.

Two weeks accident free and no diapers at nap time. I don't mind helping if they need it. Sometimes outfits nowadays are difficult or tight - and although parents know better (it's in my handbook), they still tend to dress difficult for potty training. Some, not all.
